7 practical outfits to pack for your summer holiday

1. Stain proof leopard print dress

Definitely a firm favourite of mine! This NewLook dress that I got on sale is not only extremely comfortable and flattering but will hide all sorts of stains – a great feature when you’ve got a messy toddler.

2. Elegant, breezy shorts and cami top

I love, love, love these shorts! Another great purchase from NewLook, they are great for a smart-casual day look, and equally perfect for a dinner date (for that I parted them with lace black cami top, also from NewLook) 🙂

3. Stunning lemon print midi dress

This dress…. it was so perfect for this extremely hot day. Even though it’s midi length, it was breezy, comfortable and super chic! The print and vibrant colours make it perfect for the summer. And it’s quite toddler stain proof too!

4. Mum’s essentials – tummy control one-piece swim suit and high waist bikini

I’m all about tummy control swim suits – they’re so flattering! They gave me a massive confidence boost and were very comfortable.

5. Mega flattering striped shorts and a basic white top

I mean you just can’t go wrong with this look! Elegant yet casual and super comfortable – always a winner!

6. Gingham dress

For an island tour I chose this fab gingham dress – nice and light, perfect for the beach and sightseeing.

7. The amazing basics – denim shorts and classy white top

Another classic combo, another winner – enough said here I think 🙂

Autumn favourites and classic essentials

This autumn/winter season has certainly a lot to offer, there are so many interesting prints, great colour combinations, and great shapes. It’s easy to spend a fortune on a shopping trip to town or in the comfort of your home with the laptop in your hand.

I need to admit I went a bit shopping mad this season, but I was careful with the pieces that I chose. I went for a lot of checked print outfits and also focused on leopard prints-  the hottest trend this season. But I also concentrated on the colours – purple, dark green, mustard yellow, rust, dusty pink. They’re gorgeous, versatile and their return in the near future is guaranteed.

Let’s talk about the outfit featured in this post, the blouse in particular. It was all about matching whatever I’ve got in my wardrobe, the classic essentials, to this season’s pick. When I first saw this rust polka dot blouse in Primark, I knew it will go perfectly with many different combinations. It’s perfect for the office and works equally great with a more casual style. Match it with a pencil skirt, smart black trousers, jeans, mustard yellow trousers, a green skirt, purple pinafore dress – my head is spinning with all the choices! 🙂

Focussing a little bit more on the classic essentials, like a black pencil skirt and a beige trench coat, you can’t really go wrong with having them in your wardrobe arsenal. If you don’t have either, I’d recommend purchasing them.  I’ve had both in forever, I wear them all the time and they’ve proven to be a great investment.

Autumn winter trends 2018 – checked!

See what I did there 🙂

From my obsession with stripes, I jumped right into a different obsession – checked prints, one of the hottest trends this season (apart from animal prints of course!).

They come back in fashion so often, it’s worth making an investment and buying several pieces this autumn. That’s exactly what I did. I’ve always loved checked prints, they’re so classy, so timeless, and so flattering! They’ll look great on everyone.

I went for 5 checked items – trousers, a skirt, a blazer, a dress and a pair of shoes. In this blog, I’m including outfits featuring only 3 of them, but check out my Instagram for more inspiration.

Enjoy the photos and please comment below :*

Back to school/ back to work – 3 ‘working mum’ outfits

September means a lot of things. It means the days are shorter, the summer is almost over, and that it’s time to fully embrace the autumn/winter season.

For a lot of fellow mums it also means it’s back to school time. It may seem like a beginning of the year, the start of something new. Perhaps some of you are going back to work after a long break, or ‘just’ fully back to work after juggling childcare duties over the last 6 weeks. In either case, as you spend hundreds of pounds on school uniforms, shoes and sports gear, don’t forget about yourself!

I put together 3 ‘working mum’ outfits, perfect for a transitional period between the end of summer and full-blown autumn. They’re elegant, sophisticated, comfortable and yet a bit edgy. Over the last few months I’ve been trying to get out of my comfort zone – the jumpsuit you’ll see below is an example of me being much braver! I’m loving this new-found confidence, trying different colour combinations, different styles – it’s worth taking a bit of a risk!

Summer stripes 2018 – rock the ultimate streetwear trend

Oh summer stripes…I can’t get enough of them this season, they seem to be everywhere I go, and I couldn’t be happier! We really are spoilt for choice – dresses, trousers, blouses, shorts, jumpsuits, you name it, it’s available. I love the fact you can get them in any colour – green, red, black, rainbow and much more! I know some of you might be afraid that they will make you look bigger – in this case, go for vertical stripes, they are slimming.

I’ve put together some of my favourite picks, enjoy!

3 breastfeeding friendly summer dresses you’ll love

This glorious summer weather simply calls for flowy summer dresses. However, when you’re breastfeeding you might think that they’re not really an option for you. It would be ok if you had a ‘proper’ breastfeeding dress – but they’re pricey. These were the thoughts going through my mind. I’ve put together a list of 3 inexpensive breastfeeding friendly dresses I got either from high street shops or online retailers. You’ll also find some pointers on how you can ‘convert’ the dresses you already own into breastfeeding friendly outfits. I do realise I’m quite late in the season for this post, and I was debating whether to write it, but then I thought that even if it helps just one mum, it was totally worth it!

I breastfed my son for 14 months and just recently stopped. Last summer was not as nice as this one, but we still had several amazing hot days, ideal for wearing summer dresses. Nevertheless, I kept limiting myself to tops and shorts/trousers. I didn’t want to pay loads of money for a special breastfeeding dress (I was convinced I need one if I want to breastfeed and wear a dress at the same time 😊), plus there weren’t that many options that I liked. I really limited myself and, I realise now, it was a mistake. I could have worn my regular dresses and made them breastfeeding friendly. Or take a trip down the ‘sales lane’ and buy dresses that would be suitable for breastfeeding without having that special ‘breastfeeding dress’ label.

So, breastfeeding mummas, please don’t make the same mistake!

Here are some pointers for you:

  • look for something with v-neck, preferably with adjustable straps or something you can unbutton (like the white Zara dress below)
  • Dresses with wrap front are ideal for breastfeeding (check out the wrap front maxi dress)
  • Got any shirt dresses kicking about in your wardrobe? Dig them out, they would be perfect!
  • Forget special nursing bras, get a stretchy sports bra (I found nursing bras really uncomfortable, especially during the summer, anyone with me? )
  • Wear a vest underneath
  • Something with a bit of a stretch is always a good idea 😊
  • If you don’t feel comfortable whipping the boobs out in front of everyone, pack a nice light shawl or just a muslin cloth

My picks for you are…..

  1. Button down white dress – Zara

2.  Floral maxi dress with wrap top – ASOS

Another fab option for breastfeeding mums – here instead of a vest I’m wearing a sports bra! Dress still available on ASOS website.

3. Super v-neck mix spotted midi dress – Topshop

I’ve done a mini blog post on this dress, take a look here.

Almost as if it was designed for breastfeeding! The straps come off really easily, meaning you can breastfeed without too much fuss and very discreetly too!

Welcome to Damzelle

The last few months have been very exciting and intense. I finally made a decision I should have made years ago, yet I kept making excuses – it’s not the right time, I’m too busy, I’m pregnant, I’m a new mum, I need to do something else first, etc.

The truth is, there is never the right time, so…… I got my laptop out and set up my beauty and fashion blog!

Damzelle’s mission is to empower all mums out there to feel fabulous and confident in the way they look, without breaking the bank. I can’t wait to share with you what I love and what I’m passionate about!

Hope you’ll enjoy my blog! If there’s anything specific you’d like to read about, get in touch 🙂
